Financial formation is relational formation
Financial disagreement is the most consistent predictor of relationship conflict and divorce across income levels. But the issue isn’t income — it’s money psychology: how people were formed around scarcity, risk, debt, and asset-building. Two people with similar incomes and radically different financial formation will produce the same conflict as couples with large income gaps. Bond surfaces this before it becomes a dynamic.
