An idea grounded in bringing us closer together by strengthening our economic ties. What would it look like if our community world-wide, before looking outside, were to go within and focus our support on each other? Imagine what that would look and feel like. NuRenN seeks to be a spark to that flame.

Our Story

by Doron Jamil | Developer & CEO

When I set out to create NuRenN Inc, I was driven by a passion to provide a platform for black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs to showcase their work. My journey began with a desire to make a difference in the lives of others and to make an impact in my community beginning with being an educator/coach in various inner-cities nationwide. NuRenN is now available on the App Store and Google Play, providing a directory of black-owned artists, entrepreneurs, and businesses, as well as a retail store featuring these same brands. The journey continues with the goal to bring us closer together and to create spaces where we can shine our light.

Early Years

NuRenN (Nu Renaissance Network), founded in 2017 and incorporated in 2019 represented a solution to a problem. For years, no matter what city you were located in, finding BIPOC (specifically Black-owned) locally-owned stores, shops, and brands was not an easy task. So many talented Black entrepreneurs and brands were established but awareness of these amazing ideas was quite limited. That's when Doron Jamil (Townsell) decided to found an app that would give his community a way to build awareness as well as show support. What began as an app later branched into an online retail store that showcases NuRenN branded clothing and apparel as well as featuring emerging and established black-owned brands worldwide. On top of the online retail component, as an extension to NuRenN Inc, Douglas Morgan ("DOUGLASMORGAN") was officially trademarked and established in 2020. Douglas Morgan represents a high-end bespoke (custom) brand that allows customers to add their own unique touches to various leather goods. The websites are NuRenaissance.org, NuRenN.Store, and thedouglasmorgan.com.

The Idea for NuRenN

The idea for creating the Nubian Renaissance Network, Nubian meaning, "people of gold" (derived from "Nub" = gold), simply represented the implied theme that those BIPOC communities that are often underrepresented and often marginalized, mainly the Black community in America, had talent and ideas that shined like gold. This "rebirth" of black ingenuity and excellence would usher in a renewed commitment to building a community based on positivity, innovation, and good vibes. This "nu" network of entrepreneurs, creatives, and consumers, would be foundational to building real wealth and subsequently a higher quality life in areas historically labeled "at-risk."

Making it Happen

Right now NuRenN has over 1000 app downloads and approximately 400 active users and growing. NuRenN.Store has established a reliable supply chain that features various eco-friendly and high-quality clothing and apparel ranging from jackets to hats. Along with the products featured that are branded by NuRenN, Douglas Morgan is a "made-to-order" business model that reduces waste and unnecessary inventory making it an environmentally conscious brand. With the right marketing and consistent customer service, the NuRenN brand and it's affiliates will surely grow into a household name.

The Present

Presently we are building our social media presence and brand awareness through a variety of online and print ads beginning right here in Brooklyn, NY. The city in which NuRenN Inc. was founded.
